DXW142 FEP/TPE-U coaxcable 50 Ω

The RG142B/U is a excellent coaxial cable for high performance. However, the cable with a
price of around € 7.50/m is usually too expensive. Therefore we looked for a affordable alter-
native. First, the expensive silver-plating was replaced by tin.The inner conductor is now made of solid copper ( better thermal conductivity than the copperweld steel wire in RG142B/U).
By tinning we had to use FEP as a dielectricum, since only silver plated wires can be extruded
with PTFE. Fortunatly FEP almost reaches the properties of PTFE . It can be processed
at lower temperatures , without that the tin " burns away " . One shield seemed to us for
operation up to 30 MHz sufficient. The outer jacket of the cable is made of high-quality ,
weather-resistant and extremely rugged polyurethane ( PUR) , which is cheaper than the
usual FEP. Even if we assume that this cable is probably good for 25 % less power than the
RG142B / U, (3,1 KW @ 30MHz ), the DXW142 is still good for more power than a RG213
(1.95 KW @ 30MHz ) , which is much thicker and has a four times higher weight.
